Very accurate! July 26, 2010 T. Franceschi I've had it for a month now in my tank, and the readings match almost exactly with the temperature I set in my heater; unless both are wrong, the reading is very precise! I still have to test using another thermometer, but just to make sure;
So far the batteries are working fine and no sign of wearing out; and you can always turn it off whenever you want; I turn it on only when I want to know the temperature, and then turn it off again; this will save you lots of batteries in the long run;
Definitely better than those "temperature stickers" that we can never tell what the real temperature is, and all this for a very reasonable price!!
Works very quickly! Accurate May 11, 2010 M. Evans (Houston, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I actually got this to measure the temperatures in various rooms in my house since our A/C works very unevenly. It's spot-on (within 0.1 degree) of the stated temp on our thermostat right by the main unit and shows me just how hot the other rooms are in comparison. It updates quickly and is a solid little product. You do have to remove the plastic between the battery and contacts before it will work, so just FYI.
This thermometer is a waste of money April 20, 2010 Rick (Vancouver, WA) I have no problem with the retailer I purchased the thermometer from. What I do have a problem with is that I have several similar products, digital thermometers with probes like this one, and several other types of thermometers that all agree within a few tenths of a degree. This one is off by as much as 5 degrees at any given time. It reads lower than the real temperature when the real temperature is under 70 F. It reads higher than real temperature as you go above 70. Perhaps this is a problem with the C to F conversion? I don't know. What I do know is that a temperature probe for terrariums or vivariums, whatever, should not be made of black plastic. That's the worst color and the wrong material. The probe should be reflective or white. Not flat black. If you're looking to save money, Do yourself a favor and spend a bit more for a better value.
Good thermometer for a variety of uses April 15, 2010 G. Smith I didn't buy this thermometer for an aquarium, but for my motorcycle that didn't come equipped with one. It's ridden through a lot of extremes and performed very reliably. Good thermometer -- especially for the price.
Better than expected, inexpensive, would purchase again January 13, 2010 JC (Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have a new 90gal SW reef tank with a 50gal sump set up. I needed a digital thermometer that could be reliable, at the same time not break the bank, since my eventual live stock need to be in a certain tempature range. After reading several reviews of the Coralife Digital Thermometer from various vendors, I was a bit nervous in purchasing since some of the reviews reflected inaccurate temp readings....some complaining of even being several degrees off!!..eeek. Since they were rather inexpensive and I was on a limited budget, I went ahead and purchased 2 of them to compare and also have a 'fail-safe' set up. I also have a removable digital thermometer already at home in which I have been using and is accurate (tested) to <0.1 degree...but needed a permanant set up.
The delivery was fast from time of order. The CDT came with an attached probe, both of which had suction cups for easy/flexible placement. I placed them in the same area of the sump to see what reading I would get....and to my suprise, they both read exactly the same!!! I compared to my tested removable themometer which indicated that they were reading about 0.5 deg F cooler....which is reasonably managable. This is the only reason I am giving them 4 and not 5 stars.
