| Customer Reviews: My dog's favorite toy June 21, 2010 Matthew Audette (Arvada, CO) My golden retriever puppy absolutely loved this toy!! Everything in the one start rating is accurate. My dog being in her teething stage when I got this for her, she probably tore it up faster than older dogs will. She tore the skin off the balls in the first 3 days, then over the following 4-6 she was able to break apart the two balls and was down to the rope. Now, 10 weeks later, the rope's a little shredded, but she's through her teething stage. The remaining rope has been great for tug o' war and the toy for keeping her preoccupied when I'm being a naughty dog owner and don't want to supervise her and can't give her the exercise she needs. I come back to a mess sometimes, sure, but it's easy to clean up and she's shredding her stuff, not mine! I really think this toy is one of the reason's she hasn't done any damage to my property.
Now that all of her grown up teeth are in, I'm back to buy another one. I'm guessing this will get a little more life out of it; but if not, oh well! Great way for my pup to keep herself entertained!
NOT EVEN FOR MEDIUM CHEWERS May 12, 2010 JN777 We just received this in the mail and our dog completely stripped the "fur" off one of the large tennis balls down to the rubber and put a large puncture hole in it literally within 5 minutes of us giving it to him. There is some sort of little ball within each tennis ball, which I'm guessing is intriguing to dogs as they likely think it's a treat or at least makes them curious as to what it is and how they can get to it.
Anyway, I sat here and watched my dog as he quickly pulled the "fur" off a small section, which I had to take from him, and then I picked it up to find that he already put a hole in it. I would not consider my dog a strong chewer as the rest of his toys have stood up extremely well to his chewing, including other small tennis balls made for dogs.
Just a heads-up that I WOULD NOT recommend this for medium to large dogs and/or dogs that would be considered even medium-strength chewers. I'm going to send ours back tomorrow and look for something more durable... maybe a rope without the tennis balls.
